USCG Auxiliary Boating Safely Classes
Orange Beach Community Center, Saturday, March 7, April 4, May 9, June 6 and August 8.
All classes begin 7:45 a.m. ‘til 4 p.m. Cost is $35 including lunch.Class size is limited to 25. Call John Griggs at 955-1443 to register. Covers navigation, rules of the road (water), personal safety equipment, trailering boats, boating laws and boating for hunting, fishing and waterskiing and tying basic knots. Age 12 and up. Meets all qualifications for the Alabama Boat Operator’s License.

Orange Beach Saltwater Series
Orange Beach, June 1st thru August 15th, 2009
Presented by the Red Snapper World Championship. More than $200,000 in cash and prizes. Competitors will battle for eight offshore and two inshore species. Land the top fish for a chance at the first place of a Toyota Tundra Truck or a second place prize of a Toyota car thanks to Eastern Shore Toyota. Prizes will be awarded in three categories: anglers, small boats (35 feet and under) and large boats (over 35 feet).

Island hosts Kayak Fishing Tourney
Orange Beach Waterfront Park, September 18 and 19, 2009.
Orange Beach and Gulf Shores, will host the Inaugural Alabama Coastal Inshore/Offshore Kayak Fishing Tournament. The tournament fee is $50 per person, and individuals register online at www.mbkfa.com. Tournament proceeds will benefit Covenant Hospice of Mobile and Baldwin Counties.
